Lover of stories. Detective of the divine. Writer, speaker, teacher, minister.
I’m not a believer in an easy faith. I think finding God and following Jesus are hard. I think we’re called to social justice and to push the boundaries of love but I struggle to do it. I preach better than I practice, but I am growing. I love to ask the Hard Questions and love to hear others ask them too.
I love talking and writing about the places where spirituality meets real life. My first nationally published article was a piece I did for Exchange magazine on the connection between passionate teaching and spirituality. You can read it over at the Courage Renewal site, a fact I mention because it still makes me giddy. Courage Renewal’s founder Parker Palmer is a hero of mine and if you haven’t read anything of his, you should.
I blog because I love to write and think and needed a place to hold all the stuff in my head. (Also because as I transitioned into professional freelance writing, my ego needed a place to write what I wanted, when I wanted. Nothing soothes the rejection-weary soul like instantaneous publishing!)
I live with my husband and daughter in gorgeous Colorado where I spend way too much time on the computer but love every minute of touching people’s lives. I love a good workout, time outdoors, baking bread, reading and writing. I’m glad you’re here!
